Basia Bańda (born 1980) is a graduate of the Fine Arts Academy in Poznań. Since 2008, she has been associated with the University of Zielona Góra, where she has worked as an assistant at the Faculty of Arts.
Bańda is considered one of the most interesting Polish artists who made their debuts after 2000. In 2007, she was included in a representative group of 60 painters invited to the “Polish Painting Of The 21st Century” exhibition at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art.
In 2009, she was given the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s “Young Poland” scholarship and a prize by the “Arteon” magazine. She also came 4th in “Kompas Młodej Sztuki” – the official ranking of Poland’s most acclaimed young artists. Since then, she has been included in every edition of the ranking.
Bańda’s works are included in collections of, among others, the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw and the ING Polish Art Foundation in Warsaw as well as in private collections in Poland, Germany and Austria.
