Rafał Bujnowski (born 1974) is a graduate of both the Graphics Faculty at the Fine Arts Academy in Cracow and the Architecture Faculty of the Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology in Cracow and a co-founder of a legendary Ładnie group.
In Bujnowski’s art, methods of classical painting meet those of radical conceptualism. His images-objects change their meanings depending on the context in which they are exhibited, questioning conventions which regulate the post-modern art world.
He took part in crucial group exhibitions of the recent years, such as “As You Can See. Polish Art Today” at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, “Progress And Hygiene” at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art and “State Of Life. Polish Art Within A Global Circumstance” at the National Museum in Beijing. His solo shows include “Corner” at Johnen Galerie in Berlin, “Arsonists” at the Raster Gallery in Warsaw and “Dusk” at the Arsenał Gallery in Białystok.
Bujnowski’s paintings are located in a number of private and public collections worldwide, such as the Rubell Family Collection in Miami, Zabludowicz Collection in London, Boros Collection in Berlin, the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw and the ING Polish Art Foundation in Warsaw.
